RiverRat Yarn

THE STORY BEHIND RIVERRAT YARN

Independently dyed for everyone

RiverRat Yarn was founded by me, Stacey Rivera.  I am an Indie Dyer, Spinner, Weaver and Knitter.  I dye small batch yarn and fiber for fiber artists and yarn enthusiasts!  I love what I do and hopefully that shows in the quality items I create.  The name "RiverRat" comes from my husband a retired Marine who spent 30 years as an infantry marine.  "RiverRat" was his call sign, once you hit a certain point you get a mission specific call sign and it seemed sad to let go of something that had been with us for 20 plus years.... so it became my business name.  Upon retirement we bought our very first home in beautiful Pennsylvania, where the beauty of the seasons always inspires my creativity.  Together we began our next chapter..... RiveraRat Yarn.

We dye special color ways, kits, clubs, sweater quantities and more!  Stop by say "hi" and enjoy!

Youghiogheny Yarns

How do you say...

It's pronounced "Yock-i-gainey'.  The locals refer to the river simply as the Yough (yock).  Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning "a stream flowing in a contrary direction".  The river flows from West Virginia north to Pennsylvania where it connects with the Monongahela River.

Who We Are

Nestled in the Youghiogheny River valley, Youghiogheny Yarns is the creation of husband and wife team, Todd & Keri Fosbrink.  Color is everywhere in the Youghiogheny valley no matter the season, and Youghiogheny Yarns wants to help you bring some of that color into your life and projects.

Our Goal

Youghiogheny Yarns is committed to creating beautiful hand dyed and hand painted yarns crafted in small batches for all your knitting and crocheting needs.  Our colors are vibrant, bright and sometimes unusual.  Let us help you color your world!

Knitting Notions

Beginnings

Knitting Notions is a family owned and operated business. Our business opened in 2005 with our first product, handmade yarn swifts. What initially began as a second income in the beginning has now grown to be a full time sole income for us. Product development is an on-going element which includes all aspects of our woodworking, yarn dyeing and pattern publishing.

Wood Knitting Tools

All of our own products are developed and produced from a home-based workshop in Nashville, Tennessee. We have added to our product line regularly in the years since then to include many unique wood tools and accessories. At the present this includes Sock Keepers, nostepinnes, darning eggs, shawl or hair sticks, yarn boxes, and Bowls.

Hand Dyed Yarn and Dyeing

Around the same time, in addition to wood working, we began a custom yarn and fleece dyeing service. Soon after that time we developed a line of hand dyed merino wool yarns in a curated palette of 32 repeatable colors which we added to our growing product line.

Many knitters appreciate our large range of semi solid colors. Our specialty is custom mixed colors that look natural and are easy to wear. We use only the highest quality professional dyes, selected for their superior light fast and color fast ratings and for their excellent selection of primary pigments for mixing.

The yarns we dye are selected for their versatility in a wide range of knitting and crochet projects. We love merino wool yarns for its properties. It looks amazing when dyed and is very soft and comfortable next to the skin. Our line focuses on finer gauge yarns ranging from fingering weight, sport weight and DK weight. We hand dye two fingering weight yarns; a 65% superwash merino wool and 35% rayon of bamboo blend and a 100% superwash merino wool. Both our sport weight and our DK weight are 100% superwash merino wool.

Swan City Yarn

Hi! I’m Carolyn of Swan City Yarns. I live in sunny central Florida with my husband Bo, two kiddos and a sweet pupper.

Swan City is pretty much a family run business. While I do the bulk of the dyeing and other shenanigans around the dye studio, Morgan works part time and Bo is regularly seen helping me at trunk shows and doing any other odd jobs I can pass off on him. Okay, he's actually the best half and I wouldn't be here without him.

Swan City gets its name from the Swans that are found all over the city of Lakeland, originating from a pair of swans originally gifted by Queen Elizabeth herself in the 1950s.

Arden Gray

We’re so happy you’re here!

Hi, I’m Hannah — the maker, dreamer, and buyer behind Arden Gray Co.

Arden Gray is a DIY and lifestyle brand inspired by my twins, Arden and Grayson, and my deep love for handmade creativity.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a maker. Crafting something beautiful from start to finish gives me a sense of purpose and accomplishment — something that’s often hard to find in today’s fast-paced world.

Before starting Arden Gray Co., I spent over a decade as a TV news anchor and reporter. When I had my twins, I made the decision to step away from the newsroom and stay home with them full-time. Throughout it all, I never stopped creating. It became my release, my way to unwind, and a reminder of who I am beyond the noise.

In a world filled with constant notifications and digital distractions, there’s never been a greater need to slow down. Sometimes, just a few rows of stitching can bring peace to a busy day.

Here at Arden Gray Co., we hope to spark your creativity and help you find your own joyful escape — whether it's needlepoint, crochet, or knitting.

Be creative. Be authentic. Be inspired.

And don’t forget to connect with us on social media — we’d love to stay in touch!

JoAnn Clark Fiber Artist

JoAnn Clark

I dove into the creative pool decades ago and have come out with a love for the fiber arts. From painting, to doll making, to rag quilting, to patchwork purses led to a friend giving me an article on repurposing old wool sweaters. So about 18 years ago I was introduced to Needle Felting and I've been giving it a stab ever since. Though flat was fun, I soon found that 3D was my creative muse. I loved felting and teaching others how to make snowman and Santa ornaments. But I still wanted to go bigger, so over the years I have experimented with both wet and needle felting to develop what I call Feltie Forms. These firm shapes have given me the ability to bring forth fanciful creatures and freakish full-size pumpkins.

Hello, I'm Cheryl...the dyer, founder, and creative force behind Imagine! Fiber Arts(IFA). I launched IFA to offer yarn that feels as good in your hands as it looks on your hooks and needles. Little Loopy

Bringing beauty and healing through fiber arts

I'm so glad you're here.

Known for being a girl-next-door, down-to-earth kind of woman, I'm Kayla the creative force behind Little Loopy. This is where vibrant yarn meets mindful healing. As a professional yarn dyer and mental health specialist, my mission is to blend the power of color and creativity with the transformative benefits of self-care.

I never imagined that my passion for yarn and crafting would evolve into this  completely unexpected (yet continuously beautiful) journey, but I intentionally sought joy and healing through difficult times, including my divorce. What began as an Instagram rabbit hole (which we all fall into from time to time, right?) emerged a new life chapter of personal exploration, self-care and entrepreneurship. So soon grew  a deeper understanding of how creativity and color can nourish the mind and soul and let me tell ya'll... I am here for it!

Through the therapeutic art of knitting and crochet, I’ve seen firsthand how colors can uplift, calm, and inspire. Each skein of yarn I dye is crafted with the intention to bring comfort, joy, and balance, while supporting mental wellness. For me, it’s about more than just creating beautiful fibers—it's about offering a space where people can find peace and mindfulness through the act of crafting.

Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or someone just beginning your journey, I believe in the healing power of color and creativity. Let’s explore joy together, one stitch at a time.

"I operate from the belief that we all, as humans, long for comfort and beauty."

Sunset Fiber Company

I started Sunset Fiber Company in 2023, but the idea behind it came much earlier. After learning to crochet with my best friend in junior high, I continued my love of handmade items in later years with baby gifts for friends and, eventually, items for my own children. Experimenting with locally sourced, hand-dyed yarn for these toys, hats and mittens showed me the unique look that could be created by high quality, hand-dyed yarn.

As my son and daughter grew, I was drawn to joint activities and sustainable family initiatives. These include growing vegetables, upcycling clothing and selecting long-lasting high-quality products to create less waste. Creating a sustainable mindset for the next generation led me to want more time with my kids. So in 2023, I made the career leap. I left my long-time job as a nurse and pursued the dream of my own business.

Sunset Fiber Company focuses on quality yarn that creates one-of-a-kind garments for its customers. The focus on quality ensures hand-crafted products have a depth of color that’s long-lasting and doesn’t change over time.

Our fiber is all hand-dyed on-site at the company’s Pennsylvania location, utilizing as many energy and water saving dye techniques as possible. These techniques include exhausting dye baths to make sure there is as little dye waste as possible and re-using dye baths for the same colorway to reduce water consumption.

Behind the Pines Yarn

It must have been at least 14 years ago, maybe longer when I took my first dyeing workshop. I LOVED it! I had so much fun. I love playing with colors! Then I started reading about methods, researched yarn bases, etc.

A little over 10 years ago, we moved into a new house. It was then that I decided I wanted to do more than just play around and dye a few skeins here and there for myself. My husband Randy,  helped set up a dye studio in our attached garage. Soon after, I signed up for a dyeing workshop in Massachusetts. A week long wonderful workshop. I knew I was hooked! So, I needed a name for this business. As I sat on my sofa one day, looking out our window, where 2 rows of pine trees lined the front yard, I said “I’m behind the pines”. That is how Behind the Pines was born.

All of my yarn bases are named after my grandchildren. Christopher, Emma, Serenidy, Lily, Sienna, Adam, Bella, Leo, Teddy and Little Adam.

There is one exception, so far. I recently added Addi, named after my sweetheart of a puppy that I loved so much.

Which brings me to now. I decided to move my studio out of my house, which if I may add, had completely taken over my house and life. And decided to set up shop in Pemberville. Along with dyeing, I love to sew. In 2009, I started making project bags named after my Addi.  I also, enjoy working with beads. So, I also started making stitch markers and other knitting and crochet notions. Currently, Behind the Pines is located at 139 East Front Street in Pemberville, Ohio. I LOVE my new space. Along with my dye studio, I have a room for sewing and sitting and 2 rooms for retail space.

Although I have limited store hours, I welcome appointments. I hope to attend more fiber shows and have fun creating beautiful new yarn colors, awesome bags, and useful bling for your knitting and crochet projects.

Stone Cellar Dye Works

It all started in elementary school.

Tori and Eve have been partners in crime since they were wee babes in knee socks. Today, they own and operate Stone Cellar Dye Works, a dye lab and fiber studio serving up colorful yarn and bad puns.

Our Story

Stone Cellar Dye Works was born in—you guessed it—a stone cellar.

The conditions were rustic, to put it politely, but after a lifetime spent in Chester County, Pennsylvania, old buildings have always felt like home. (Seriously, our school gym class used to meet inside an unheated barn in poor weather. Was it the 1990s or the 1890s?)

Our first summer dyeing was blisteringly hot. We spent our weekends and evenings underground in the cramped quarters of Tori’s basement with a bunch of boiling dye pots. We argued over math (fractions, man) and listened to a hilarious amount of Oingo Boingo.

In 2025, when our operation expanded and we made the transition from hobbyists to full-time yarn dyers, we knew we needed to move our dye lab to a bigger studio space. So we moved to Eve’s basement. Always living that basement life.

Since we were little kids, we’ve fantasized about running a business together. It took some time to find the right niche and a decade-long side quest into the world of professional theatre, but every adventure life’s taken us on in the past 30 years has led us to Stone Cellar Dye Works.

As for what's next . . . we’re just getting started. We’re so glad you’re here to see how the story unfolds.
